Danner Veterinary Hospital is a one of a kind, full-service animal healthcare facility that provides comprehensive care to companion and exotic pets in the northeast region of Oklahoma, including Tulsa, Jenks, and Bixby. Dr. Dan Danner offers exceptional care to dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, birds, pocket pets, monkeys, lions, tigers, bears, and more. He also takes care of major animal sanctuaries such as Safari Sanctuary in Broken Arrow and other small groups.

Having more than 40 years of experience in advanced levels of diagnostic medicine, surgery, and personal family pet care, including training at Lion Country Safari and at a large after hours hospital, has given Dr. Danner an expanded and unique ability to treat your family pets in a way that few veterinarians can. Our hospital delivers a wide range of primary pet care services including boarding and bathing, dental care, digital radiography, in-house diagnostics, microscopy, exotics care, immunotherapy, pain management, rehabilitation, wellness visits, and surgical services. Our surgical services cover routine surgeries such as neuters and spays, mass removals, advanced orthopedic surgeries and even root canals. Dr. Danner is also one of the few remaining veterinarians who will perform ear crop surgery with quality care and pain management.

At Danner Veterinary Hospital, our team of caring professionals places a strong emphasis on educating our clients about the needs of their pets. The more you know, as a pet owner, about the needs and well being of your pet, the better you will be able to provide the best care and bring health issues to our attention. Our motto is “Excellence through Education.”

We truly believe in and make every effort to follow our mission statement every single day: “At Danner Veterinary Hospital, our goal is to maximize the health and well being of your family pets throughout their lifetime while striving to minimize the cost of care.”

The point of quality veterinary medicine and surgery is to give it your very best. It is by giving our best and caring for each and every one of your family’s pets and helping them to lead long and healthy lives that we hope to make the world a happy place.

Announcement: Welcome Dr. Setser!

Danner Veterinary Hospital is excited to announce the new and exciting expansion of he exotic and surgical services in Tulsa! Since our addition of Matt Sellers, DVM last year we have exploded again. Now assisting with the ability for the Tulsa area to have medical and surgical support not only for the pocket pets and exotics but now the growth to include the Reptiles and Amphibians! Dr. Sellers graduated from OSU College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2015. Dr. Sellers is also well versed in Ultrasound and Acupuncture bringing another dynamic to the high quality of care and diagnostic abilities. An outstanding member of many exotic associations himself, he has been shown to be one of the best “go to” for the exotic and high-level family pet practices for over 9 years. He has been working with several Sanctuaries such as Turpentine Creek and large family pet practices.

Mark D Setser MS, DVM is joining our practice in May 2024! A very seasoned professional with over 40 years of experience in the higher levels of medicine and surgery with a passion and love for the exotics! He graduated with a Masters in Pharmacology and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and graduating in 1982 from Oklahoma State University. Dr. Setser has gone on with his expertise and experiences to give special lectures to the students at the Tulsa Community College – Vet Tech program, OSU Biological Sciences, OSU Veterinary Medical College. Dr. Setser was also brought in by several veterinary pharmaceutical companies such as Ft. Dodge, CEVA, and Zoetis to introduce their medical line of products over the years.

He went on to purchase and create All Creatures Animal Hospital in December 1985 and started working with larger sanctuaries such as Safari Joes back in 1989. In 1986, Village Vet Hospital was created in Broken Arrow where he has been for the last 40 years. He and I both have too much fun and passion to step away from our love of the animals. We have also worked for each other off and on several times over the last 40 years.

I have always enjoyed the fact that “Tulsa is a Big City but a very small Town”! I grew up in Tulsa with a similar love of animals especially the exotics! Showing Quarter Horses and Palominos across the mid-west to crows and crawdads being brought home at a very early age. Mark and I met in our pre-vet efforts with many similar interests and he went on to become my fraternity pledge son at OSU! Fun Fact…. We even lived at the KOA campgrounds while doing a summer zoology course at the Oklahoma City Zoo! I went on to do a brief internship at the OKC Zoo my senior year of vet school and then down to Dallas for another internship at Lion Country Safari. Upon graduation from OSU Veterinary College, I returned to the private general practice that not only did companion animals but a large number of equine patients and the total Lion Country Safari care and services as well! I came back to Tulsa in 1980 with a passion to do high level animal care. AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association and Veterinary Economics voted Animal Medical and Surgical Hospital Second Place in the Nation for hospital design and efficiency. Oklahoma Magazine readers voted AMSH in the top 3 “Best of the Best” Veterinary Hospitals for the last 13 years that I owned the practice. When I owned AMSH, I came across another gentleman with similar interests at Safari Sanctuary in Broken Arrow. Matt Sellers, DVM came to work for my hospital during his pre-vet efforts and into OSU College of Veterinary Medicine. So now we have come full circle to have an amazing staff with a fun history to offer the highest services in NE Oklahoma for your medical, surgical and exotic needs. Dr. Sellers and Dr. Setser do all of the Reptile and Amphibian needs. Dr. Setser is also well known for his experience with the invertebrates, fresh water and marine fish! We all do the avian, pocket pets, kangaroos and primate portions of the practice with exotics coming from all over Oklahoma, northern Texas, Arkansas and Kansas. Please review our website and Facebook Page to see all the fun and diversity that we care for. After all, who does dental root canals on lions, tigers, bears and primates to doing orthopedic repair of a ¾ pound marmoset with a fractured humerus. A C-section for an egg-bound tortoise or for the family pet having trouble giving birth?!?!? The exotics also give us an interesting edge in caring for the companion animals. We are the only practice that has this level of experience and care.

Starting on May 25th we will be open week days from 7:30 am to 6 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm for improved convenience to you and your pets.

We look forward to showing you the new level of care for the broad spectrum of animals we have in the Tulsa area.

Dan G Danner BS DVM
